Dummett has broken into the Newcastle side this season, making nine appearances, including starts in the last two wins against Aston Villa and Hull City.

The full-back enjoyed a successful spell on loan at St Mirren last season and Pardew has decided to play the 22-year-old rather than Italian international Davide Santon.

Paul Dummett: "Alan Pardew has had the faith in me to give me a chance of playing in the Premier League.

“Also in terms of coaches the likes of Willie Donachie, Peter Beardsley, Kenny Wharton, Steve Stone, John Carver, Danny Lennon and Tommy Craig have done so much for me.

“Everyone is really good with me and all of the players give you advice before the game.

“Guys like Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi have been really helpful as well, as they know what it’s like to be a young, local lad coming into the team.

“But I would have to say Willo (Mike Williamson) as he speaks loads to me before and during matches. He has been great.”
