Who Is To Blame For This Mess?

Ryan Taylor used the term “embarrassing” about Newcastle’s recent run of eight defeats, and that was just admitting the obvious.

One point fron 27 is an absolute joke ... but where does the fault lie?

But there has been plenty of debate over who is at fault recently but I still say appointing John Carver as manager was the biggest mistake Mike Ashley has made since pissing off Kevin Keegan in 2008.

Freddy Shepherd pointed the finger at Alan Pardew this week and the Londoner quickly bit back and said it was “unfair” and that the blame should lie with the Chronicle and Journal!

Ashley didn't want to spend in the January transfer window, so the best way to avoid pulling out his wallet was to give John Carver the job.

A "Yes Man" is ever there was one; a guy just happy to have the job; a man who would never rock the boat.

But it backfired ... because Carver lost the dressing room almost as soon as he sat in the hot seat.

The players expected a better appointment (and I was told that from one of the staff as far back as January).

He never won them over. The step up from coach to manager was too much for him, simply because he didn't do anything GOOD to gain their respect.

Tactics? Have you seen any under Carver's leadership? It is a shambles.

Look back at how Liverpool tried to tackle Chelsea at the Bridge yesterday. They kept their shape against a more physical team but were always in formation ... with a purpose.

And Newcastle did that against Chelsea in December to win 2-1.

The last nine games ... can you tell me what formation or system we have tried to play.

We cannot defend dead-ball kicks ... and THAT is where a coach comes in. He should have his team drilled, and Newcastle at the moment are clueless!

But, Carver believes he is "the best coach in the Premier League" when I wouldn't trust him to drive a school bus!

Ashley took the easy option. To save money.

Ashley is the only man who can trigger the funds for recruitment and that must happen this summer, no matter who is in the dugout.

But the squad needs a leader ... and Carver ain't that man!

Does Ashley get involved in team selection (as has been reported in the past)? I believe he does!

Look at Jonas Gutierrez! If he played the last eight games of the season he reached his target for a new contract.

Ashley - in my opinion - blocked it.

Jonas was man of the match in one game ... and dropped for the next ... ruling out that "guaranteed" contract.

Now who dropped him do you think?
