What Jewels In John's Collection?

Where YOU were ... John was there too.

As well know, John Alder was killed on the Malaysian Airline flight MH17 in July along with fellow Newcastle United fan Liam Sweeney.

Having only missed one game (home and away) since 1973, he amassed a large collection of match programmes, which are now being donated (by his family) to benefit the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

His sister, Joyce Robbins, has decided to auction the memorabilia.

I don't honestly know if he got a programme for every game, because (unlike some anoraks I know) he never seemed to make getting a programme a priority on match days.

Perhaps others know different.

John’s collection will be sold in the new year with the help of Newcastle United FC and Anderson and Garland Auctioneers.

More than £30,000 has already been raised by Sunderland fans (touched by the death of the two fans) for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
