The old building, opened in 1922, is no more. And completion of the multi-million pound Wembley Stadium project finally happened when a safety certificate for the fire alarm system was issued.

The £800million completion of the site is now imminent.

The BS5839 certificate followed two days of successful testing of the stadium's fire alarm systems.

"That was the last box to tick," said a source.

Consumer goods such as soap and drinks have already been delivered to the complex.

The development means that the FA Cup final is on course to be staged at Wembley in May. The number of visitors to the site has steadily increased in recent weeks and a community day is due to go ahead on March 17.
