Eunan O'Kane believes Leeds United did not play as well as they have in recent games when losing to Newcastle United at Elland Road and as a result did not deserve anything from the match.

Expectations were high heading into Leeds' home meeting with the Championship leaders and the club's Elland Road ground was quickly sold out, with over 36,000 packing in.

But Rafael Benitez's men had a comfortable afternoon's work, being gifted the opening goal after a mistake by Leeds goalkeeper Rob Green, who flapped at a high ball and handed a simple finish to Dwight Gayle.

Gayle then got on the end of a neat passing move which split Leeds' defence, Kyle Bartley losing the striker, who converted to make it 2-0.

O'Kane insists Leeds can have no quibbles with the result as their performance meant they merited no more.

And the Republic of Ireland schemer feels Leeds did not play as well as they have been doing in recent matches.

"A disappointing result for us today", he wrote on Twitter.

"Didn't reach the levels we have been at and got what we deserved.

"Thanks to everyone who came out #MOT".

Leeds will now look to return to winning ways next weekend when they head to face Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.
