Was Owen BOOED Onto The Field On Sunday?

Last updated : 08 October 2007 By Footy Mad - Editor

I couldn't quite work out if it was because Oba Martins was being substituted, or whether it was a section of the ground having a go at Owen because he wanted a warm up before playing the full 90 minutes for England.

I sit in the Leazes End, and obviously the Everton fans (above us) had a dig because of his Liverpool connection ... but I'd swear some of the booing came from a handful of Toon fans.

Am I wrong?

Certainly one fan (on the message board) felt the same way:

Owen and the boo boys ...

Why were there boos from some sections of the crowd when Owen came on today?

Only on the pitch for 16 minutes and he scores a top class goal.

What do people want?

I noticed when he scored that he held his hand to his ear.

Do you think that was a response?

Does this mean that in Owen's mind there's now a rift between him and the fans?

I hope not. Why boo your own team, its ridiculous.
