Allardyce only spent a year on Wearside in 1980/81 ... but now he has declared his interest in the Sunderland job after Roy Keane quit yesterday.

Allardyce has been desperate to return to management since Newcastle kicked him out, and has already been installed as the bookmakers' favourite for the Mackem job.

Allardyce: "Sunderland are a great club so of course I'd be interested in talking to them.

"I have huge respect for the chairman Niall Quinn and the job he has done.

"I enjoyed the year I had at Sunderland and also when I did some coaching work there under Peter Reid. I also know how passionate the fans are about their team."

What a two-faced ****** that man is!
