Trouble At St James' Park - Llambias Set To Leave!

Llambias, who only took over from the shell-shocked Mort a matter of weeks ago, is alleged to have told the board at Newcastle United he is on his way.
Mort never took to the job, and was a reporter's nightmare. He was not a 'football man', and boy did it show ... looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car when put on the spot.

So why is Derek Llambias leaving the board?

Well, we don't really know, but the People are having a fine time with their "exclusive" and have been quick to add that Ashley could be ready to sell the club.

Llambias is a die-hard West Ham fan and some suggest the pull of London is at the heart of it.

PEOPLE EXCLUSIVE:

In a sensational new twist, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley looks close to selling all or part of the club, with managing director Derek Llambias on his way out of St James' Park.

News of Keegan's controversial stance to back Joey Barton came with Llambias, who took over from Chris Mort two months ago, looking to take up a directorship at Les Ambassadeurs.

And the move, which would see him lose £500,000 a year in wages, is the biggest hint yet that Ashley could be ready to sell. A source said: "Llambias was always thought to be committed for as long as his friend was in charge.

"The fact he appears to be returning to the casino business will lead to inevitable speculation that Ashley is on his way too."

Ashley is thought to have been in talks with two of Asia's wealthiest companies over a £300m sale.

Anil Ambani, the sixth richest man in the world, remains keen and Singapore-based Profitable Group is also interested.
