Transfers Depend On Roeder Position

But the question remains ... will the Newcastle boss still be in the job?

Depending who you believe, Roeder declined the chance to take Sol Campbell to St James' Park last year when he became available from Arsenal, citing his age as a problem. Campbell said he wasn't impressed by Roeder (which was what Woodgate also said). However Roeder now says, despite Campbell being a year older, his age is no longer a problem.

Confused? Well that's Roeder for yer.

Roeder: "I would like a central defender this side of 26 and an experienced one over 30 with a big CV and successful playing career."

According to local newspapers, Roeder will look to sign Darren Bent after Alan Pardew admitted Charlton will not be able to hang on to him if they are relegated.

He tried to sign the England international last summer but was put off by the Addicks' £12million asking price and eventually signed Obafemi Martins from Internazionale for £10million.
