Toon's New Frank Clark?

Enrique is an out-and-out left-back, just like dear old Frank Clark was back in the 1970s. A fellow who took a lot of stick from the Leazes and left under a cloud because he was said to be "over the hill".

Yep he was over the hill alright. Brian Clough signed him and he won just about every medal going - League Cup, First Division title (now the Premiership) and the European Cup!

The Spanish Under-21 international watched United beat Sampdoria from a seat in the St James' Park stands yesterday.

Sam Allardyce: "Jose has hopefully got a very good future in front of him, but we will feed him in slowly. You won't see him at Bolton, or at least I hope you won't, because I would not want to do that.

"I'd like to use the players who have done so well in pre-season for the first few games, with the new ones coming in after that.

"It does not matter about Alan Smith because he knows what the Premiership is all about and he's OK.

"Mark Viduka knows all about the Premiership as well and what it takes to be successful.

"But we will ease in Claudio Cacapa and Jose when they have got the feel of it."

He started his career at Levante and spent a season on loan to Celta Vigo before switching to Villarreal in 2006.
