Lee Clark has praised Lovenkrands for sticking at it on his return to the Birmingham City side.

Lovenkrands was unfortunate not to score in the defeat by Watford, on what was his first start since mid-December.

Lee Clark: “I didn’t expect him to play as long as he did.

“His link-up play was good, he’s worked extremely hard.

“I thought he was going to blow up after about 60, 65 minutes.

“But he can be pleased with what he’s done.

“He judges himself on goals, he will be a bit disappointed on that side, but overall it was a good performance.

“The front two worked hard without getting any opportunities.

“That was the disappointing thing from our point of view. When we had that spell in the second half maybe we could have nicked one and it might have changed the game.

“Ultimately, you’re coming up against good players and they punished us.”
