Toon Winger Says Goodbye

Glenn Roeder: "While an X-ray has shown there is no break, Damien has a badly swollen ankle and our medical people tell us that he will not be able to play again this season.

"It's bad luck for Damien coming at a time when he was beginning to show the sort of form we have been looking for from him."

Duff missed the start of pre-season training, and Roeder put that down to the winger's poor start to his Newcastle career. But he has put in some acceptable performances of late, and has been defended throught his troubled campaign by his manager.
