Matt joins Magpies
Newcastle United have moved to complete their 4th signing of the January transfer window by bringing in Matt Targett on transfer deadline day.
Targett makes the move to St James’ Park from Aston Villa on a loan deal that will run until the end of the 2021-22 season. The 26-year-old graduated through Southampton’s well regarded academy system before moving to Villa Park in 2019. He was an ever-present in the Villa side last season and has made 17 starts for them in the Premier League this season though Villa’s recent signing of Lucas Digne has seen him lose his place at left-back.
