"Aage has been very important both for myself and the national team in recent years.

"He has helped me a lot, both on and off the the pitch, and is someone I've been able to talk to about everything. He's helped me through the tough times.

"It's the players who have disappointed in 2008 and we must shoulder the criticism.

"Aage has been capable of motivating us and has always been well prepared at team meetings.

"He will have no problem finding a new job - he is someone with a great deal of competence and I have a lot of respect for him."

The former Liverpool left-back is allegedly top of Koe Kinnear's 'wanted list' come the January transfer window.
