The Gateshead-born 19-year-old spent the first half of the campaign at Championship club Preston North End, and Ipswich Town and Norwich City are just two clubs showing an interest.

Kevin Keegan: "Absolutely no chance.

"We wouldn't let anybody out on loan at the moment. We've let David Rozehnal go for reasons I've explained before, but we just wouldn't be doing our jobs properly if we left this club bare.

"He can learn everything he needs to learn here at the moment.

"There will be loads of times in the future when we get a bigger, stronger squad, and when everybody's fit, that we can let players go out if we think it's beneficial.

"I've never been scared to do that. I've done it quite a lot in my career as a manager, but at the moment he's got to stay here and play, if asked, in the first team, and make the training competitive."
