Michael Owen: "I felt fine. I felt my hold-up play was okay. I had one good chance in the first few minutes and never scored that. But chances will come and I will always be in there.

"I'll always be that type of player. I am an instinct player and your body has then got to follow your instinct. I tend to know where the ball is going to drop and it is just a matter of finishing things off.

"I am pleased to get 90 minutes under my belt and feel I am getting sharper.
"I've been out for a year and it was only my fourth game so I was never going to be at my total best but I feel my touch is decent. If given the chance, I feel confident in front of goal. I felt happy with the night's work.

"I feel ready for the two games coming up. I've played three games for Newcastle and one for England B. I'm fit physically. I don't think anyone can say 'you don't look fit physically.'

"My knee feels great and my body feels great and it is just a matter of playing and getting sharper and sharper."
