Carroll is currently in Belarus with the England under-19 squad, which is looking to seal qualification for the European Championships in the Czech Republic.

England play Poland in Borisov before games with Serbia and hosts Belarus in the qualifying elite round of the competition.

Carroll: "My summer will consist of a bit of rest but also games with the under-19s. I am looking forward to them.

"You always want to do well for your country just like you do for your club.

"It is a great experience for me.

"All of the appearances for Newcastle left me hungry for more.

"Even if I play five minutes it makes me want to play even more for the first team. And hopefully that can continue next season."
