Toon Striker Accepts He Could Move In Transfer Window!

The Newcastle striker is fit again, and desperate to play a part in the Premiership.

But Big Sam obviously believes he has bigger fish to fry, and a transfer looks 99% certain come January.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate ... if he is still in a job come the New Year ... is said to be interested, but the impression I get from the Smogs is that they are far from happy with the idea.

Glenn Roeder is another who would welcome Ameobi, but can they afford him? And Allardyce is certain to knock back a loan deal.

Ameobi: "I feel the best I have felt all season and all of the little niggles are out of the way.

"I have been working hard and I am just trying to prove to the manager I am worth a chance.

"It is his team and he picks the players he thinks are right.

"I will just keep on working hard and look to see what my position is come January.

"I don't know what the situation is at the moment. I won't speculate or assume or anything. Like any player, I have always said if I can't play here I will have to move on and nothing is different.

"But six weeks is a long time in football. We will see what happens.

"I am desperate to be in there and desperate to play. It isn't my decision. I have to work hard and make sure I stay fit.

"Playing in the reserves is a big help to me and playing games is good.

"I know how difficult life is here. I have been through many tough periods here before, but we are professionals and we have to stick together.

"I understand the team is going through a tough time and I wish I was there battling with them.

"I am sure that we have the quality to turn it around.

"We are trying to do that. We realise that the last couple of games have not been to the standard we know we can play.

"I have seen the reactions before - the fans expect so much and rightly so.

"We have a squad that should be doing better."
