The Newcastle United defender entered the field of play in the Amsterdam Arena with eight minutes left wearing number 17 to replace Neil Taylor of Swansea City during the 2-0 defeat.

Just a year ago, Dummett was considering leaving Newcastle for first-team football elsewhere.

He’d opted to stay on at United and was awarded a one-year deal.

After impressing Alan Pardew in pre-season he found himself a regular in the Toon side last term and made 21 appearances while signing a six-year extension to his current deal.

Dummett’s agent Spencer Downey: “We’re proud to see Paul get his first cap on the big international stage against a strong Holland side. It’s in recognition again of his progress this season.

“Chris Coleman has made reference to his fitness and great attitude. I know how happy and proud Paul and his family will be.”

Now Dummett will look to add to his first cap by playing in Wales’ European Championship qualifier against Andorra in September.
