Newcastle United will await the outcome of a police investigation before deciding whether to discipline Rolando Aarons after he was one of nine people arrested following a nightclub brawl.

The England Under 21 winger was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in the early hours of Sunday after a fight broke out in Livello on Newcastle’s Quayside.

Aarons is said to have taken offence when a group of men started dancing with his aunt.

A source told The Sun: ‘He went over and told them to stop. His view was that they’d had their fun and it was going too far.

‘He made his views pretty clear and that’s when all hell broke loose. They were throwing tables and bottles of champagne.

‘There was blood everywhere by the end. There were girls falling about all over the place and people being trapped.’

A Northumbria Police spokesman confirmed that one man had gone to hospital with facial injuries.

Aarons signed for the Magpies in 2012 and made his Premier League debut two years later.

However, the 20-year-old has struggled with injury and has made just 22 first-team appearances.
