The game was abandoned after 55 mins because of frozen pitch with the scores level at 1-1.

So Newcastle United Reserves have now gone eight weeks without a competitive fixture.

Referee, Mr R Madely, called off the game at Glanford Park because "the playing surface was too dangerous to continue".

Newcastle took the lead on 25 minutes with Kazenga LuaLua scoring after a great through-ball from Darren Lough set him on his way.

But Scunny scored just before half-time when Matthew Sparrow scored past goalkeeper Ole Soderberg from 12 yards.

Toon coach Alan Thompson: "We're obviously disappointed because it had been a cracking game, but the referee has taken the decision and we have to respect that."
