Manager Kevin Keegan has struggled to attract his transfer targets to St James' Park, what with Peter Crouch and Steve Sidwell both knocking back Newcastlev offers this week.

So KK has upped the price in a bid to sign the midfielder rather than hope the price drops close to the end of the transfer window.

There is a fixed fee in his deal with Italian outfit Udinese but allegedly they are trying to talk Inler into staying with the offer of a new and improved contract.

But Inler has an ambition to play in the Premier League and has every right to leave if a club offers £5m.

Expect the deal with Newcastle to be done this week.
