Paul Lambert: "It's our first match since returning from a mid-season break in the Algarve

“It was good to get away. I don’t think the weather was too great here while we were gone so it was good. The weather was really nice there and the lads worked hard, which was the main objective of it.

“You can do things over there more than you can do here because of the weather, especially with the wind you had here and the amount of rain.

“You spend a lot of time together and the lads did certain (team-building) things but it wasn’t like we didn’t train. We trained as if we were back here.

“Did it help camaraderie? That’s what you’re hoping for any time you go away, whether it’s pre-season or a mid-season break. You live in each other’s pockets for the few days you’re there and it can help you.

“I don’t think you ever know everybody like the back of your hand because that’s impossible. You’ll get to know them to a good level.”
