Chairman Dean Hoyle: "We approached Norwich City to talk to Lee Clark yesterday (Tuesday) about becoming our new manager and they allowed it.

"An undisclosed compensation package has been agreed between the two clubs and we are now at an advanced stage of negotiations with Lee."

Lee is a Geordie and proud of it, and don't mention it to the Mackems.

He was coaxed to wear a "SMB" t-shirt at the FA Cup final when the Magpies played Man Utd ... but he was a Sunderland player at the time!

Great player during his career at SJP and always wore the shirt with pride.

Moved to Sunderland for £4m and stunned everyone! A Geordie institution.

Returned to Newcastle (from Fulham) in the summer of 2005. Became reserve team coach in 2006 when Tommy Craig stepped down.
