Gateshead lost 3-2 at Darlington after leading at half-time 2-0.
Peter Beardsley, who has regularly watched Gateshead and Tavernier this season, has been delighted by his progress.

“It’s good for him and for Ian Bogie, who I am also friendly with.
“The first team is at Stoke, but I will be at the International Stadium.
