Toon 'Keane' on Striker

The Republic of Ireland international is set to leave White Hart Lane after a frustrating campaign that has seen Keane spend a lot of time on the bench as Martin Jol rotates his four strikers.

Although some of the sources reporting the move are far from creditable, Keane is a player that Souness is thought to be interested in signing.

The Toon boss wants two new strikers this summer to line up alongside Alan Shearer and Shola Ameobi, with the latter being given one more chance to prove his Premiership worth.

Ironically, it is reported that Spurs had a £6million offer for Ameobi turned down last season.

Keane would join fellow Irish team-mates Shay Given, Stephen Carr and Andy O’Brien at the club.
