Oba Martins and Steven Taylor are two others that Keegan is desperate to hang onto but fears Arsenal and Liverpool could offer better money.

Now we hear Manchester City have reportedly made Brazilian star Ronaldinho an offer that would make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

A delegation of City representatives travelled to Brazil on Saturday to formally confirm they would be willing to pay the Barcelona forward around £200,000-a -week.

According to the Guardian the discussions were mainly with Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis although there is expected to be more talks over the next two days.

With Tottenham snapping up class players that KK has tried desperately to sign (Luka Modric and Jonathan Woodgate), and seemingly got first option on Man City's Richard Dunne and Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar ... we can see KK's point when he says "Newcastle will not break the Top Four during my three year contract".

We still wait for our first summer signing.
