Toon Fans Furious With Price Increase!

Fans are starting to receive their application renewal forms showing a ten per cent increase on last season ... unless they commit to a three-season deal.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is offering fans the opportunity of taking up an offer of a ticket for the next three seasons at a prize freeze.

However, for many United fans, finding the cash for ONE season is bad enough.

The average increase at Premier League clubs for the 2008-09 campaign is 7.2 per cent, and Toon fans have a renewal deadline of June 22.

Newcastle fan Dennis Taylor from Wooler told us: "I am struggling to pay for one season, never mind an amazing £1,500 for three seasons.

"I simply cannot afford it, so I'll have to borrow the money for one season and pay the extra 10%.

"I travel to 75% of away games and the club is offering an away season ticket to those who can afford it. But I have no chance.

"So rather than applying for away tickets that I was sure to get because of the points system, I will find myself struggling to get away tickets now because rich fans will buy the season ticket and pick their games.

"If ever there was proof that football is no longer a working class sport ... this is it!

"I am gutted!"
