Toon Fans Back The Heed!

Gateshead have finished third in the Conference Premier - their highest placing in English football for 54 years, when they were harshly voted out of the Football League in 1960.

A goal in each half from Colin Larkin and sub. Rob Ramshaw gave The Heed a 2-0 win over runners-up Cambridge United at a delirious International Stadium.

A crowd of almost 3,000, a record attendance for a Conference league fixture at Gateshead for the club, saw The Heed reach the Conference Premier play-offs for the first time.

Gateshead will now play Grimsby Town in the two-legged play-off semi-final, the first leg at Blundell Park on Thursday - the place where Newcastle won promotion back in 1992.

The return leg is on Tyneside next Sunday, 4th May, at 4:30pm.

This is an ALL TICKET game, tickets on sale from the International Stadium Box Office each day this week.

The Club thank all supporters for their tremendous backing this afternoon on what turned out to be an historic occasion, and look forward to similar support at Blundell Park and the International Stadium against Grimsby Town.
