Toon Defender 'Working Around The Clock'!

Last updated : 17 February 2009 By Footy Mad - Editor

Beye is determined to make his fair share of appearances in what has been a nightmare season for the Senegal international.

Beye has gone through his own personal hell in his second year on Tyneside.

Lee Cattermole's horror tackle at Wigan on Boxing Day completely wiped him out, with Beye suffering ankle ligament damage.

Beye has been wearing a protective foot immobiliser, which has helped top stars like Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham all make successful returns from foot and ankle injuries, and this should help speed up the defender's recovery.

Beye has been working in both the gym and doing plenty of pool work with backroom staff hopeful that he can follow in the footsteps of fellow ankle victim Alan Smith who played his first full 90 minutes in the reserves on Monday against Wigan in the 5-0 win.
