Czech Republic sealed first place in Group D, knocking Germany off top spot, with a comfortable 2-0 victory in Cyprus.

Daniel Pudil put the visitors ahead early on before Jan Koller sealed the points 16 minutes from time.

That was enough to ensure the Czechs take the Group D crown irrespective of Germany's 0-0 draw with Wales, because of their head-to-head record.

The Toon defender is expected to be at the heart of Newcastle's defence when they face Liverpool on Saturday.
