However, even though he says he is delighted that Taylor has been called up for England, he has warned his young defender to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
Taylor is expected to be on the bench for tomorrow's friendly with Germany at Wembley.
Allardyce: "I think that from Steven's point of view it's a great honour at a young age to get called up for England.
"Initially, I thought he was getting called up for the Under-21s, but I got the call from Steve who has included him so he can get a feel for it.
"It'll be a great experience for him, so long as it doesn't go to his head."
