Titus takes the plaudits

Bramble found himself behind Andy O’Brien in the first-team reckoning at the start of the season but has seized on Jonathan Woodgate’s injury problems to regain his place in the team by finally beginning to produce performances somewhere near his full potential.

"Titus is doing what I always thought he could do," Sir Bobby told The Journal.

"He's playing very well. He tackled well and headed the ball well and could have been a hero against Bolton, had his second- half header not cannoned off the bar. He's had three consecutive performances which have impressed everyone here.

"Titus was as good as anyone out there on Saturday but now he has to repeat that twice in two days this week.

"It's a tall order for any player but I'm just glad Titus is beginning to show what we know he can do, at what is a very important time for us."

Bramble produced an equal number of impressive and appalling performances last season, but if he can show some consistency then we may finally have a solid centre-half partnership.
