Time Ticking Away For Ramage

Ramage has revealed he tore 70% of his cruciate ligament in the match with Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, and that (take away 30%) is just about as bad as it gets!

He admitted today he does not know whether he will play again this season.

There is obviously a pecking order at St James' Park, and Ramage is only on the fringe of the squad. So he did not go the way of Alan Shearer and Michael Owen by being sent to Dr Steadman's famous clinic in Colorado, where all the world class football stars go.

Instead he was sent to a doctor in London, who conducted a successful operation 11 days ago.

Ramage: "I knew something was wrong straight away when my knee buckled.

"I felt my shin go one way and my thigh go the other.

"It was pretty painful. I've never done anything to my knee before, so I didn't know what I had done.

"It wasn't until I went for a scan that I knew the extent of the injury.

"They didn't let me put any weighf on my knee until then.

"I went down for the consultation, and came back with a new knee.

"I'm going to miss the majority, if not the whole of the season, and I've prepared myself for that."

Let's hope he bounces back.
