Rafa Benitez is keen on keeping duo Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran, according to reports this weekend.
Anita has become so popular in recent weeks the Toon Army even sang his name during the Birmingham match!
Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran have been frequent members of the Magpies side that has lost just 5 of their first 19 games. Anita has made 14 Championship appearances this season, as well as 3 EFL Cup outings, while Gouffran has bagged 4 goals in 18 games in all competitions, 3 in the league.
However, both men are in the final year of their contracts with the North East club, meaning they are free to consider deals from other clubs in January.
Vurnon Anita joined Newcastle in 2012 and has appeared over 100 times for the Geordies, and Yoan Gouffran arrived at St James Park in 2013 from Bordeaux, netting 16 goals in all competitions since signing.
With Newcastle looking strong in their push for a swift return to the Premier League, Rafa Benitez will want to tie his best players down to new contracts.
