The Players Newcastle Should Look to Sell This Summer

Newcastle United may not have the transfer window they expected this summer, but it will still be a busy one.

After the Geordies' Saudi Arabian takeover collapsed, the suggestions of Kylian Mbappe and Philippe Coutinho moving to the north of England were confirmed as poppycock. Their transfer targets this summer will have to be a tad less ambitious, and in order to sign any of those targets Newcastle will probably have to sell first.

Here are six players who should be leaving St. James' Park over the next couple of months.

1. Yoshinori Muto

Yoshinori Muto has barely played since joining the club from Mainz in 2018. He has only scored once in 25 games for the Magpies and even in a time where no Newcastle striker could score for love nor money, Muto still couldn't find away into Steve Bruce's plans

The Japanese striker's contract still has two years on it and Newcastle won't want him sitting on their bench for that long - a transfer seems inevitable.

2. Dwight Gayle

There's a reason Gayle didn't get regular game time despite the Newcastle team struggling for goals this season. Simply put, he's not cut out for top flight football.

Gayle is at home in the second flight and a move to one of the recently relegated sides, or a team looking to mount a promotion push, would be perfect for all parties involved.

3. Florian Lejeune

Lejeune's time at Newcastle has been plagued by injuries, and according to the Chronicle he has been the subject of interest from clubs back in his native France.

Lejeune could be sold to raise a bit of money for incomings this summer.

4. Christian Atsu

Christian Atsu has fallen out of favour at Newcastle after a number of disappointing campaigns.

According to the Athletic, Newcastle are willing to listen for offers of around £4m for the Ghanaian and considering he has scored just eight goals in 120 appearances, it may be time for him to leave.
