The NUFC Meeting At The Irish Centre

SJPDenis Taylor: Around 20 fans turned up. This was the groups second meeting, having previously held one last month.

There were no big heads or ego's just genuine fans like myself discussing things all concerned about the way our club is being run etc.

There was a group of fans who want Ashley out and call for a boycott on merchandise and all things sold inside the ground on matchdays - others wanting some sort of communication from the club to the fans.

First topic on the agenda was the fans being moved from Level 7 to the Gallowgate corner.

This has caused a bit of conflict with fans who have sat in the corner for years.

There was an incident where two 16 year old fans were head butted by 40year old fans for standing up. This has been brought to the clubs attention.

Also the lack of atmosphere at home games this season (with moving fans from Level 7) is a concern.

We all agreed that we want communication with the club and one person who was present at the meeting last night was Malcolm Dix who has connections at the club.

He will act as a 'go between' for the group and the club, and the group plan to invite a representative or two from the club to attend the next meeting which is scheduled for the 3rd October.

The people that are to be asked are secretary Wendy Taylor who Malcolm knows well and Simon Esland who I believe works in the ticket office.

There is also plan to promote a campaign called "bring back the scarves" at a home game (which will probably be the Spurs home game next month).

However I cant see a suggestion to try and get every fan to wear a toon top with no 9 on the back (in protest of lack of signing a suitable replacement for Andy Carroll) working.

There was also interest about the Newcastle United lettering on the front of the East Stand, which has been taken down recently. Some asked if it would it be put back up again.

It was also interesting to hear that St James' Park (which has been chosen as a venue for the football matches in next years Olympic games) will be altered.

After the last home game of the season against Man City, the Olympic committee take over the whole of SJP and current advertisements (including Sports Direct and even the one on the Gallowgate roof) will be taken down.

Also the current changing rooms will be replaced by new ones to be more suitable for women footballers.

However, once the Olympics are over the olympic committee have to put SJP back as it was before, changing rooms the lot.
