The Mackem Cemetery!

Last Sunday, Marton Fulop thought he was at a cemetery - this week he might have helped bury Sunderland's relegation nightmare.

On the face of it, a point from a scrappy goalless draw at Bolton would not seem an obvious cause for celebration.

However, after a run of one win in 10 games and with the four clubs below them struggling badly for form and victories, it could just be enough to save the Black Cats.

Marton Fulop: "After Everton (when they lost 2-0 at home) it was like a cemetery.

"The dressing room is a much happier place now.

"We are getting there step by step. If we get a point or a win at Portsmouth we might even be there."

Given Sunderland are not in action again until Monday week, when they head to Pompey, the Wearsiders could be in the relegation zone.

Now all Sunderland's players can do is sit back and wait to see what Newcastle and Middlesbrough manage, knowing a draw would represent a perfect outcome given it would leave the pair four points adrift of their north-east rivals with just two games remaining.
