Kevin Keegan brought him back to the club he played for (during two spells) and named him his "Buffer".

Sir John Hall wanted a job title for him, and Keegan came up with that bizarre name.

Now McDermott has a "proper job" and has taken over as Newcastle United reserve-team boss.

He will be joined by senior Academy and goalkeeper coach Adam Sadler.
