Martinez was linked with the post back in January after Toon president Sir John Hall hailed the Spaniard as an up-and-coming manager with potential.
Dennis Wise 5-2 is favourite ahead of Alan Shearer (4-1) and David Moyes (6-1).
Also 33-1 are Stuart Pearce, Terry Venables, Brazil legend Zico and former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce.
