Now ten Newcastle fans have been arrested over violence at Newcastle United's pre-season friendly that took place back in July.

The arrests came four months after trouble flared at a friendly match between the Magpies and Carlisle United.

The men - all from the Newcastle area - have been arrested for public order offences and released on bail until January, Cumbria Police said.

The trouble started in a pub on the day of the match at Carlisle's Brunton Park ground on July 21.

The game, which finished 1-1, was briefly held up in the second half as a handful of home fans tried to get out of their section of the stand next to the 3,000-strong away following.

Last year, four arrests were made following problems at a friendly game between Carlisle United and Sunderland.

This season there was major trouble when Leeds fans visited the town.
