Reflecting on being named Sports Personality of the Year by Sport Newcastle, Steven Taylor said "I want to win medals with Newcastle".

Steven Taylor : “This is a massive one when you look at some of the names on there – Jonny Wilkinson, Alan Shearer and Steve Harmison.

“To be named alongside them is fantastic.

“The main thing now for me is to get a Championship winners medal.”
