Taylor: "I just remember being on the bench. I didn't even think I'd get the chance to come on.

"I'd been on the bench quite a few times, and warming up was like coming on for me.

"But Sir Bobby Robson gave me that chance when Andy O'Brien was struggling.

"Eto'o's a top-quality player - look at him now and what he's achieved. It was a fantastic experience for me.

"He's different class, and that's one day I'll never forget. I've got his shirt, so that's a nice little memento. The night was great.

"A week later I started at Bolton, and things didn't go my way. I thought 'that's me dead and buried', and looking for a new job!

"At that time the team had a few injuries and I got a chance.

"I think even the kit man had a chance at the time, but I got in there and took my chance when we were down to the bare bones.

"I waited a year or so after Bolton but I got my chance again. It worked out OK and now I just can't wait for the new season.

"We've got some difficult tests during the pre-season and they are games to look forward to.

"The matches in Spain are next and then it's PSV and Valencia, so they are tough games.

"We are all gearing up for Manchester United in a couple of weeks, and fitness and a winning mentality are important."
