"But I played at Bolton, and then waited almost a year for another chance! I thought 'my career's over here'. Thankfully, it wasn't.
"I remember sitting in the Sir John Hall Stand with my dad, and I never once thought I'd be getting the opportunity to play on the St James's Park pitch.
"Living that dream now is the best feeling in the world now - I thought being a ball boy would be the closest I'd get to the pitch."
