The Argentine international defender has not played since New Year's Day when he suffered a knee injury.

Alan Pardew: "Colo's worked hard, and he's looking better.

"He was in all weekend, so he's had four or five days."

If he returns, Steven Taylor will end up on the bench again, having failed to impress as stand-in for the Toon skipper.

The former England Under-21 star told the Chronicle back in January that Colo's injury was an opening for him to get into the first team and stay there.

But, not only has he failed to impress, but he has been a liability!

His future is at the crossroads - and all signs are pointing to the "exit" door.

He has taken so much stick on social media that he was cancelled his Twitter account.

Cheik Tiote could be available after missing the last two games with a hamstring problem.
