Obafemi Martins is being given a crash course in how to deal with Premiership defenders by centre-back Steven Taylor.
Taylor: "I can remember when I was just coming into the first-team squad, Alan Shearer used to rough me up in training and show me what it would be like to play against Premiership forwards. We're trying to do the same for Obafemi by giving him a taste of what he can expect from his markers and hopefully that will help him in match situations.
"He's been on fire, we have all seen the ability he has got and he just needed to get a goal in front of Newcastle's supporters to breed confidence. But it's difficult for any foreign player coming to the Premiership because the football is so fast and furious.
"He will get kicked around by defenders but he is a strong lad and he will be fine. He is getting better and better with each game and the quicker he settles the better for us."
