Stoke 'Frosty Welcome' From Newcastle!

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has outlined his plans to utilise the loan market fully in order to help establish the club in the Premier League.

But the way he conducted business with Shola Ameobi will have clubs wanting any deal put in writing.

Pulis has lured the likes of loan stars Shola Ameobi, Carlo Nash, Chris Riggott, Patrik Berger and Lee Hendrie to the Britannia Stadium in recent years.

But Newcastle believed the Potters
chief would sign Ameobi if they were promoted. They WERE promoted, but Stoke came out with the statement: "We have no contract saying we will certainly sign Shola Ameobi if we reach the Premiership", and they have stuck by that.

Ameobi has had to look elsewhere for a club, and although Tornto FC have made an offer, former Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is still in the hunt.

Pulis is well aware he will only be able to sign two loan players from their Premier League rivals next season, and I'm sure he won't be knocking on Kevin Keegan's door.

Pulis: "I don't know whether we will bring in a couple of very experienced players with a wealth of top-flight experience or two very talented kids from one of the big clubs.

"It is something we will be assessing and it is an area we have got to make sure we use properly.

"Everyone has seen how important loan players can be over the past few years and next season will be no different. We have to get the right players in."
