The Toon striker went to Stoke 18 months ago and wanted to sign for them.
As it happens he failed a medical and they didn't want him ... and Stoke boss Tony Pulis did the unthinkable and tried to ruin the player's career by saying: "His knee is a timebomb just waiting to go off!"
As it happens, West Ham took a chance on him and he worked his nuts off for them last season.
Then Newcastle took the plunge and offered him Premiership football again, and so far, everything is going rather well, thank you very much.
He returned to Stoke to face a sickening torrent of boos everytime he touched the ball ... and can those fans answer the question "WHY?"
He wasn't like "The Toon Parasite" Michael Owen who cost Newcastle £1.3m a goal; he didn't run out on the club; he didn't shag a Stoke player's wife; no ... all he did was fail a medical!
Personally - if I was Ba - I would have picked up the match ball on the final whistle last night and stood in the centre circle and bowed to all four sides of the ground.
The fact is - Ba showed the Stoke fans what they are missing - and Pulis can go and shag sheep!
Alan Pardew: "I don't think there is any animosity between Demba and this club.
"He did a great job at West Ham and I brought him to Newcastle and he has been absolutely terrific. He doesn't miss a day's training.
"Don't think this is a one-off from him; his link-up play, his all-round ability and his finishing.
"He is always on the move in the box and if you do that you are going to score goals and that is why he got his first two.
"It showed sheer confidence to hit a penalty like that.
"Obviously this is a really good Stoke side who have a strong squad and the way they play makes it difficult.
"You have to show real character and my players did that tonight.
"They showed another side to them and it is important in the Premier League you have many sides to your team.
"We set ourselves up to attack the game and on the break at times we looked threatening in the first half.
"It was a bit disappointing in the second half as we didn't get as much control of the game as I would have liked but we got goals at good times.
"I thought both penalties were soft-ish but at least the referee was consistent."
Of the Potters fans who made their displeasure known, Ba said: "If they want to boo they should boo their board."
