The ex-Czech international keeper said: “I find the relationship between Rangers and Newcastle a bit strange.

“The idea of a feeder club is not very new – in Europe it can be quite common and there are examples all over Europe of it working.

“However, what I find unbelievable is that Rangers would be the feeder club for Newcastle, or that there would be any relationship between the two clubs.

“A feeder club is supposed to be smaller than the other one but Rangers are a worldwide club that have the potential to be a big power in Europe.

“There are so many questions about it that need to be answered.

“It is not long ago that Rangers were in a big European final, which is more than Newcastle have done recently, and they have a huge fan base.

“No doubt there are people in Scotland who would say that Rangers are a bigger club – but now they’re taking Newcastle reserves and giving them game time.”

Srnicek also believes the link-up between Gers and Newcastle will anger their Championship rivals.

He said: “Ashley is not breaking any rules but it doesn’t look right to switch players between the two clubs and try to get promotion.

“I wonder what the other clubs in the SPFL think of it.

“I don’t know where it is going to go but I do find it a bit strange that the two clubs would join up like this.”
