Spurs date still not set

A club statement on the matter reads: “The Club submitted a request to the Board of The FA Premier League to move the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United from the scheduled date of Saturday 13 March to Sunday 14 March.

“This request was made on the basis that should we proceed to the next round of the UEFA Cup, a fact which will not be known until 10 days before the scheduled date for the match versus Tottenham i.e. after the Third Round Second Leg on 3 March, this change would happen in any event, subject to Police approval.

“The Club felt that the interests of both sets of supporters, but particularly those of Newcastle United from whom we expect to number in excess of 2,000, should be considered and that the Board should support our request by setting a definitive date for this match and therefore giving all parties certainty.

“The Club however today received notification from the Premier League that after taking into account representations from both Clubs this request had been rejected and that any change will be made if necessary when the result of our third round tie versus Valerenga is known.

“Should the match move at that time then any supporter unable to make the game on Sunday 14 March should send their ticket back for a full refund.”
